Family Fun STEM: Fish in a Bag Slime Workshop
Program Description:
Have you ever brought home a prize goldfish from the fair? Now you can make a version that lasts forever—and is much gooeier! Join us for a hands-on STEM workshop where we will create "Fish in a Bag" slime.
Participants will dive into the chemistry of polymers as they mix clear glue and special activators to create crystal-clear "water" slime. Once your slime is the perfect consistency, you'll customize it with "sea glass" beads or glitter and add a friendly toy fish to its new home. We’ll finish by sealing our "tanks" in clear treat bags with colorful ribbons, making them look just like a bag from the pet store.
What You’ll Learn:
- Chemistry in Action: See how liquid ingredients transform into a stretchy solid through chemical reactions.
- The Scientific Method: Experiment with "trial and error" to fix slime that is too sticky or too watery.
- Artistic Design: Customize your fish's habitat with various colors and textures.
Dress for a Mess! Slime making can get sticky, so please wear clothes that can get a little "ooey and gooey".
